Thailand: Skipper Sub-families Overview

Thailand

World

The Lepidoptera of Thailand covers two superfamilies, the Papilionoidea (butterflies) and the Hesperiidea (skippers), that are further divided into six families - Parnassinae (snow apollos), Papilionidae (birdwings and swallowtails), Pieridae (whites and yellows), Nymphalidae (nymphalids), Lycaenidae (blues and judies) and Hesperiidae (skippers). The four larger families are further divided into subfamilies. Taxonomy and nomencature follow Ek-Amnuay, P. (2012) Butterflies of Thailand, Editiion 2, with taxonomic updates incorporated from Yutaka, Butterflies in Indo-China and Kimura (2011 - 2016) The Butterflies of Thailand. A complete Thai checklist can be downloaded from this site's Checklist area.
