Around Phetchburi, 2 Oriental Darter and 4 Eurasian Coot. At Pak Thale, 2 Pied Avocet, but no Spoon-billed Sandpiper. No sign of Grey-headed Lapwing or Black-headed Ibis at Wat Kamnoran.

At Chiang Saen harrier roost a total of about 100 harriers with approximately 80 Pied Harrier and 20 Eastern Marsh Harrier. In the late afternoon, other species recorded included Striated Grassbird, Lesser Coucal, 1.000 Red-throated Pipit plus the usual suspects, including 25 Indian Spot-billed Duck. A probable Mugimaki Flycatcher unfortunately dissapeared before identification confirmed.

At Doi Phu Kha, following some landslide and road closure issues, a late morning and afternoon produced a territorial pair of Lesser Cuckoo (a new breeding locality for this rare breeder in Thailand). Also 20 Himalayan Swiftlet, 3 Crested Finchbill, 1 Pygmy Wen-babbler, 14 Black-throated Bushtit, 1 Eyebrowed Wren-Babbler, 1 Spot-throated Babbler, 5 Spectacled Barwing, 25 Indochinese Yuhina and 10 Whiskered Yuhina. Plus a Phayre's Flying Squirrel after dark.

From Hala-Bala, Thick-billed Spiderhunter, Black-winged Flycatcher-shrike, Temminck's Sunbird and Crested Jayshrike, afterwhich rain stopped play. Also Javan Myna which has recently been recorded by staff at the sanctuary from open areas near Hala-Bala. This species has been spreading northward up the Malaysian Peninsula since introductions decades ago into Singapore and Malaysia.

Report from Mae Wong; pair of Rusty-naped Pitta close to Chong Yen - have been coming to worms for the last two months and gave amazing views. Also Rufous-throated Partridge a couple of times, both Speckled Piculet and White-browed Piculet, pair of Kalij Pheasant, Spot-necked Babbler and Brown-crowned Scimitar Babbler. There is also a Leopard Cat coming to food put out by the rangers at Chong Yen each evening.

From Chiang Saen, 2 Mallard, 3 Wigeon, and 1 Northern Shoveler. At the harrier roost a worryingly low tally of only 30 Pied Harrier and Eastern Marsh Harrier, as well as a Greater Spotted Eagle coming to roost in adjacent trees. [Another birder reported 2 female Baer's Pochard].

At Doi Inthanon summit, Yellow-bellied Flowerpecker, Slaty-backed Flycatcher, Dark-sided Thrush and several Rufous-throated Partridge. Below Khun Daeng's restaurant were Dark-sided Thrush, Himalayan Shortwing and Asian Stubtail. Other birders recorded Pin-tailed Parrotfinch at Khun Daeng's. [Also, according to the birders's log book at Khun Daeng's, there were Grey-sided Thrush and Dark-breasted Rosefinch at the summit on 2-Feb, but no observer's name].

A count of 35 Nordmann's Greenshank at Laem Phak Bia saltpans, as well a Watercock in the mangrove research project. Other birders reporting 3 Spoon-billed Sandpiper at Pak Thale. A disspointing visit to Nong Pla Lai for eagles where only a single Greater Spotted Eagle in the afternoon. Others reported a single Steppe Eagle and an Imperial Eagle during the day. Also a Black-headed Ibis seen late afternoon.

At Kaeng Krachan, between the campsite and river crossings, were a single Great Slaty Woodpecker, 2 Tickell's Hornbill, at least 7 Orange-breasted Trogon, 3 Black-thighed Falconet, a calling Blue Pitta and 15 Sultan Tit. Other visitors reported a Grey Peacock-Pheasant beyond the last river crossing.

A half day on Doi Lang had Black-throated Parrotbill, above the upper military checkpoint, plus Buff-barred Warbler and Black Eagle toward to summit. No sign of previously reported Spot-breasted Parrotbill nor any Fire-tailed Sunbird.

Older records just in. On 23 Jan, two Spoon-billed Sandpiper at Pak Thale plus five Red-necked Phalarope, two Black-faced Spoonbill and a Black-headed Ibis (per Peter Ericsson et al). At Nong Blah Lai up to 17 Greater Spotted Eagle, 5 Imperial Eagle, 4 Steppe Eagle, 3 Booted Eagle and four Peregrine Falcon.

Wat Khao Takhrai area of Phetchburi (just to north of Ban Laem, about 20 km from Pak Thale) held good numbers of duck including 700+ Northern Pintail, 400+ Garganey and 2,000+ Lesser Whistling Duck. Also Black-headed Ibis and three Cotton Pygmy Goose.

A day on Doi Ang Khang produced Giant Nuthatch at the Km 20 camp site, where Spot-breasted Parrotbill had been recorded the previous day. Along the Arunothai Road was Ultramarine Flycatcher, Sapphire Flycatcher, Rufous-gorgeted Flycatcher, Daurian Redstart and Hodgson's Frogmouth. But no sign of Mrs. Hume's Pheasant. Rufous-bellied Niltava and Slaty-blue Flycatcher along Mae Phu Trail.

From Doi Inthanon - Dark-sided Thrush on view most of morning at Khun Daeng's. Along the km 13 road a couple of Blossom-headed Parakeet and Great Slaty Woodpecker. At the summit Eurasian Woodcock and Dark-sided Thrush. At the campsite Black-tailed Crake showing very well. Along the km 34 track a number of Black-throated Parrotbill.

A short, wet trip up Doi Chiang Dao recorded 20 Long-tailed Broadbill just below the DYK sub-station, plus Buff-breasted Warbler and Chinese Leaf Warbler at the camp site. No sign of any Giant Nuthatch, but weather poor.
